My Story

I'm sure that you would like to know about me and my story, especially if you are considering choosing me as your counsellor and sharing your story with me!

I have been living on Canvey Island for 10 years now. I am married, I have two grown up children who have children of their own now, I very much enjoy being a grandparent!

I love to read and learn, I enjoy meeting new people and spending time with my friends and family, I love to swim and enjoy Pilates too!

I worked in customer service as a career for many years. I worked in customer facing roles, as well as being promoted to managerial roles, during my career.

I then became a single parent of two children. Faced with the challenge that this new situation gave me, I became determined to succeed, often taking on extra work to make ends meet. This pressured life eventually led to burnout and I went to see a counsellor for help.

I worked on many very difficult and painful issues during my counselling. It was hard and I felt like giving up. However I kept going, and I found a way to make sense of my life and deal with the tough and challenging environment I was working in and acknowledge the impact that the stress was having on my physical health. This was so beneficial, not only for me , but for my children too.

This new knowledge about myself gave me the confidence to make a major life decision.

I walked away from the stresses and strains of management and began a new career, as a community carer. I now had the opportunity to train as a counsellor myself, so that I could help others who needed help and support to navigate life. I enrolled on a Counselling Skills Course, and my journey to be a Counsellor had just begun....

Becoming a Qualified Counsellor

My decision to become a Counsellor was based on the fact that after my experiences as a client, and the massive impact counselling had on my life, I wanted to help other people experience the opportunity to be helped, like I had been helped.

I had a placement at St Luke's Hospice in Thurrock, counselling bereaved clients, as well as a placement at the Olive Tree Centre, in Eastwood.

My placement at the Hospice gave me a real desire to continue with working with clients who had been bereaved, as well as clients who has experienced different kinds of life loss, such as a job loss or a relationship breakdown.

I qualified with a Level 4 Diploma in August 2015, I continued to stay at the Olive Tree Centre, counselling clients with bereavement issues, and work- related stress and anxiety, until 2020 when I started to work in my own private practice - Caring Counselling was born!

Your Counselling Experience...

Caring Counselling has been helping clients like you since 2020-and during lockdown- where I worked with my clients by phone, or by video call, which I am still able to provide, if you would like this.

I have had the privilege of being able to help my clients during this time, by really listening to them, and working with them to help them find a way forward with their lives, which works for them, a 'bespoke' solution to their individual situations.

I keep up to date with the latest counselling theories in order to provide you with the best possible specialist knowledge, so I regularly attend different courses on bereavement, loss and grief.

This equips me to have more 'tools in my toolbox' to help and support you with your counselling journey.

My counselling style is warm, friendly and relaxed. My aim is for you to be able to feel completely at ease and supported during your counselling session, with whatever you choose to share with me.

Counselling is your time .For you, to be accepted, heard, and really listened to and supported. I don't use complicated jargon, or long words, everything is explained so that you understand what theory or method will help you and why. I encourage you to ask me questions, as I want you to get the most out of each and every session.

If you want to know more, please get in touch. I aim to answer all texts, e-mails and phone calls within 24 hours.

I very much look forward to being able to help you.
